Design a Traditional Aran Jumper

Description

Cost: $40 members and $45 non-members

Bookings to be made between 10th April and 8th May.

Workshop will be held at Epping Creative Centre, Dence Park, in Pringle Room.

Workshop summary:

This is really a number scrunching exercise. 
 
Techniques:

  1. 'cast on' variations
  2. patterened welts
  3. square shape
  4. strap shoulders
  5. sleeve 'pick up'
  6. finishings
  7. stitch selection patterns

Equipment:

  1. 8ply wool preferably natural or cream or off white
  2. suitable needles to tension - 2 circular [ 1 larger  for body and 1 smaller for bands], 2 sets of DPN same size as circular needles
  3. cable needles - - markers - - tapestry needle
  4. usual knitting extras e.g.tape measure, scissors, etc
  5. if you care to bring Aran books or patterns, please do
Pre-work: A tension square using larger needles. Cast on 35sts and knit 44 rows as follows: knit 6 rows in garter st., then continue in double moss st. with a 3 garter st border.  Complete sample with 6 rows of garter st to make up the 44rows. Mark and record 10cm tension square on this sample.
