Easy Snowflake

Finished Size: Approx 12cm

Materials: 4 or 8ply crochet cotton, 2.5mm or 3.00mm crochet hook, empty cardboard box, , cellophane tape, gluten-free cornflour, water, small container for glue/water mixture, paintbrush, stick pins that won't be used later for sewing, clear thread or fishing line.

Instructions

Ch 4, sl st into 1st ch OR make magic ring.

Round 1: 12 dc in ring; sl st in starting dc. Pull magic circle tight, but leave opening big enough to allow stitches inside it to lay flat.

Round 2: 7 Ch (counts as 1 tr and ch 4), *miss 1 dc, 1 tr in next dc, 4 ch; repeat from * around 4 times; sl st in 3rd ch of starting 7 ch.

Round 3: *1 dc in next ch 4 sp, ch 2, 1 tr in same sp, ch 3, 1 tr in same sp, 2 ch, 1 dc in same sp; repeat from * around 5 times; sl st in starting dc.

Round 4: *1 dc in next 2 ch sp, 2 ch, 1 tr in next ch 3 sp, ch 5, 1 dc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 htr in next ch, 1 tr in next ch, ch 1, 1 tr in same sp in ring (point made), ch 2, 1 dc in next ch 2 sp; repeat from * around 5 times; sl st in starting dc; finish off. Weave in ends.

Make stiffening mixture

Mix ½ cup water and 1 tbsp gluten free cornflour in small saucepan.

Over low heat continue  stirring until mixture begins to boil and thicken, remove from heat immediately.

Using paintbrush  cover snowflake with generous amount of glue. Pin out to shape on cardboard box and let dry hard. Use fishing line to hang snowflake.
