As one of the aims of the Guild is to raise the standard of knitting and crochet in New South Wales, we have designed a series of new Certificates for knitting. (New crochet certificates are currently being planned.)
In order to access the Certificates, you will need to be a financial member of the Guild and logged in to the Guild website.
If you would like to join please sign up here.
The first of these is Stage 1: Knitting Certificate (Basic Techniques) which consists of foundation skills including knitting a beanie.
The second is Stage 2: Intermediate Knitting Certificate. This certificate focuses on extending the basic skills learnt in Stage 1 by knitting a jumper.
The third is Stage 3: Advanced Knitting Certificate. This certificate extends the knitter's skills with texture, colour work, lace and more complex techniques including a choice for completing two garments.
There is no time limit placed on working through the certificates. External assessment is optional at a cost of $25 per certificate and instructions for submitting work for assessment are included at the end of each certificate. The instructions for submitting work for assessment must be strictly followed. Once successfully completed and assessed externally, certificates will be issued to members at the Annual AGM or sent out.
Certificate Stage 1 must be completed before starting Stage 2 and Stage 2 must be completed before starting Stage 3. External assessment and the award of a certificate is optional for members. Members may work through the certificates and seek assistance from their Group and choose whether or not to submit the work for external assessment. Knowledge of these techniques will form the basis for interesting and satisfying knitted projects and garments.
